Surprises usually come from places least expected. I got one a couple of weeks back, as an email from one of our Clients nominating a Sr. Engineer (working in Bobcares) for our monthly Employee award programme. The reason? Simple Customer delight. Here is a snippet from the email. For the sake of privacy, I am withholding the client's name.

Thursday, March 16, 2006
|
| |
How many of us haven't been intimidated by the weird black Unix shell,
at least once. A blank empty prompt that dares us to type commands.
Well, the Unix Shell is the most versatile and powerful tool on the
Unix platform. It interprets the commands typed in by the user, executes
them and outputs results to be viewed by the user. The Unix shell
comes in many flavours. Common favorites are bash(GNU Bourne Again-SHell)
and csh(C-SHell).

Importance of Technical Support in Web Hosting
Monday, February 20, 2006
|
| |
It all started in 1999, when my husband, Amar and I owned a Reseller Hosting account with a fairly large Web Hosting company. We were trying to write an application in CGI Perl with MySQL for our new website. The connecting code, unfortunately didn't work online, as it did on our local computer. Amar sent an email to tech support, asking for help connecting Perl to MySQL.. The Web Hosting company was one of the largest at the time, and we were expecting a prompt response.

India - Fastest growing Free market Democracy
Saturday, February 11, 2006
|
| |
Last year alone, outsourcing in India grew over 25 per cent, and India
continued its domination over other competing countries such as China,
Ireland, Israel and the Philippines.
India is in a position to cater to the demands of the market. Its
biggest strength is its vast supply of over 2 million graduates and
300,000 post graduates that pass out of its colleges each year. Its
vast resource of English-speaking college-educated workforce and low-cost
labour gives it an edge in the offshoring world.

Understanding htaccess
Wednesday, February 08, 2006
|
| |
.htaccess (Hypertext Access) is the default name of Apache's directory-level
configuration file. It allows webmasters to customize configuration
directives, normally available in the main httpd.conf.
htaccess allows webmasters to do a range of customization to a webservers
behaviour in a directory, including password protecting them, denying
access, error handlers, redirects and a lot more. htaccess is particularly
useful when you don't have root access to the server. For example,
in virtual Web Hosting and ISPs.
