At Bobcares, we often get requests regarding Proxmox as a part of our Server Management Services.
Today let us discuss how our Support Engineers add iSCSI target for our customers.
Take a glance at iSCSI target
ISCSI is a transport layer protocol on how SCSI packets are transported over a TCP/IP network.
An iSCSI target is a storage resource located on an Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) server.
Target keeps a track of the iSCSI virtual disks which are associated with it.
Let’s discuss how our Support Engineers add the iSCSI target in Proxmox.
Add an iSCSI target in Proxmox
Recently one of the customers contacted us to add the iSCSI target. Let’s discuss how our Support Engineers do it.
First, we log in to the Proxmox web interface.
On the left pane, we select the Datacenter. In the right pane, we select the Storage tab.
Then we click on Add. From the drop-down menu, we select iSCSI.
A window appears and we enter the name for the iSCSI drive in ID.
We also add the IP address of the iSCSI target in the portal.
Now we select the iSCSI targets from Target. When we enter the IP address in the portal the available targets will be present in the drop-down.
Once we select the desired target, we click on Add.
Creat LVM group on iSCSI target
Next, we need to create an LVM group on the iSCSI target. This formats the drive and makes the partition usable.
On the Storage tab, we click on Add, and we select LVM from the list.
Now a new window appears. We enter a name in the ID field.
Then in Base storage, we select the iSCSI target we created before.
Next in base volume, from the list of LUNs, we select the correct LUN.
We enter a name for the LVM group. Then we select the Shared button.
Finally, we click Add.
Thus, we add an iSCSI target in Proxmox.
