Let’s examine how our Support team makes use of the console to activate and deactivate deletion protection.
AWS Load Balancer Deletion Protection
We can activate deletion protection to stop accidental deletion of the load balancer. The load balancer’s deletion protection is by default off. When deletion protection is enabled for the load balancer, it is impossible to remove the load balancer until deletion protection is off.
Using the console to enable deletion protection
- Firstly, navigate to the Amazon EC2 console at https://console.aws.amazon.com/ec2/.
- Select Load Balancers from the navigation panel’s LOAD BALANCING section.
- Then choose the load balancer.
- Then, on the Description tab, click the Edit attributes button.
- Select Enable for Delete Protection on the Edit load balancer attributes page, then Save.
- Finally, select Save.
