by | Jun 11, 2023

Importing ACCDB to SQL Server has now become so simple with these steps in this article. At Bobcares, with our Microsoft SQL Server Support Service, we can handle your Microsoft SQL Server issues.

Importing ACCDB to MS SQL Server

ACCDB is the default format for database files used in the current version of MS Access. The maximum file size for ACCDB files is set at 2 GB. They are automatically compressed to help keep the overall file size under that limit because they support file attachments.

We cannot open or link ACCDB with Access versions older than 2007. Today, we will see how to import the ACCDB file to SQL Server.

Steps To Import ACCDB To MS SQL Server

When we cannot view a .accdb file as a table, we can use the below steps to export it. This may be a need if the MS Access form produces the data file. Skip these steps if MS Access can view the desired file as a table.

  1. Activate the TechData.accdb file (not a form file).
  2. Click the “Access Database” button under “Move Data” in Access 2013’s database tools tab.
  3. In order to split the database, follow the wizard.
  4. Open the generated *_be.accdb file to see the database tables.
Import to MS SQL Server
  1. Firstly, launch the Import and Export Wizard for MS SQL Server.
  2. Then select “Microsoft Office 12.0 Access Database Engine OLE DB Provider” as the “Data Source” option.
  3. Now choose “Properties” and specify the location of the .accdb file in the “Data Source” field.
  4. Then select “Blank Password” and enter a blank username under login information.
  5. Check the connection now. Click OK if it works.
  6. Then select “Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server” as the “Data Destination”.
  7.  Select the MS SQL server name from the dropdown menu or enter it.
  8. If the MS SQL information is accurate, then the database we want to import the data to should appear in the drop-down menu when we enter the SQL credentials and choose it.
  9. Now choose “Copy data from one or more tables or views”.
  10. Also, choose the tables we want to copy, and if necessary, edit the mappings.
  11. Finally in order to start the import, proceed through the wizard and click Finish.
