Installing the JetBackup plugin using the cPanel

JetBackup offers options for automating backups and restores through cron jobs. It also has a user-friendly GUI. It uses cPanel remote incremental backups to quickly and effectively take a backup of the cPanel accounts and files.

install jetbackup cpanel

Some of the options are as follows:

1. Full Account Backups

2. File Backups

3. DB Backups

Let’s look into the details.

JetBackup-Full Account Backups

The cPanel account itself is downloaded as part of the full account backup. However, when compared to the cPanel full backup, it differs slightly. The generated backup can be downloaded directly to the local system or through FTP. Before JetBackup begins the full backup restoration process, it creates a safety backup, also referred to as a safety restore point, for the account. This point aids in returning to the starting point if the restoration was unsuccessful. These backups for safety are automatically deleted every day by a cron job.

JetBackup-File Backups

We can backup files and folders from the full account backup generated. We can use the JetBackup GUI for this purpose.

1. First, Log in to JetBackup GUI.

2. Now click the restore and download option.

3. Select the backup type as ‘File Backup’ and choose the user which we need to restore.

4. A list including all the files concerning that user will appear now. We can select the required file to be restored.

5. Finally, click the ‘Restore Selected’ button to restore files and folders.

JetBackup-DB Backups

We can run the below steps to back up the DB using a plugin.

1. First, Log in to JetBackup GUI.

2. Choose the backup type as ‘Database Backup’.

3. Choose the particular user to whom we want to do the restore.

4. From the drop-down menu, we can see a list of the DB backup.

5. Finally, select the DB and click the “Restore” button.
