CyberPanel Staging: An Introduction

With the WordPress staging site functionality that Cyberpanel introduced, we can move the live site into staging, make changes, test it, and then move it into production. In order to use the feature, we must have v1.8.8. Let’s look into the steps:

CyberPanel Staging: Cloning

The process is so simple. Go to CyberPanel Dashboard -> Websites -> List Websites -> Manage -> Clone/Staging. After that, we must enter the domain. Make sure we add the correct DNS when creating this domain as a child domain of this website if the DNS is hosted somewhere, a record. We won’t need to do anything; an A record will be added if DNS is hosted on CyberPanel. This will replicate the data and database from the website so we can begin testing and developing.

We won’t need to clear the cache because we won’t duplicate the LiteSpeed Cache plugin on the staging site.

CyberPanel Staging: Copying

We can copy the staging site to production after testing is complete. In order to do so, go to Dashboard -> Websites -> List Websites -> Manage -> List Domain -> Manage/Launch -> Copy/Sync to Master. One of the options will be to copy all data, which will copy all data from the child domain to the master domain. In Sync Database, the database will not be synced if this option is not selected. We can also choose to copy the modified file using the third option.

The modifications will be live on the master/production site after synchronizing is complete. We must manually clear the cache from any cache plugin we are using after copying the child or staging site to the master. We won’t remove the cache plugin from the production site.
