Plesk MailEnable Disable | Tutorial
If you are looking for a guide to help you disable MailEnable, you have come to the right place. There are several reasons to consider turning off the MailEnable mail server component.
It may be part of a migration strategy, due to technical challenges, trying an alternate email service provider and so on. Whatever the reason, Plesk offers a easy method to disable MailEnable without the need for uninstallation.
Before proceeding, we have to make sure that all mailboxes have been appropriately backed up. Disabling MailEnable will stop all associated services, and they will no longer start automatically.
- To begin with, log into the Plesk control panel.
- Then, head to “Tools & Settings” and select “Server Components” from the menu and click Mail Server.
- Now, find the “Mail Server,” “Antivirus,” and “Spam Filter” components and set them to None. Then click Ok tto apply the changes.
Alternatively, we can disable MailEnable via CLI with these steps:
- First, connect to the server using RDP.
- Then, open the command prompt as an Administrator.
- Now, run this command:
"%plesk_bin%\\defpackagemng.exe" --set --type=mailserver --default=none && "%plesk_bin%\\defpackagemng.exe" --set --type=antivirus --default=none && "%plesk_bin%\\defpackagemng.exe" --set --type=spamfilter –default=none
This command makes sure that Mail Server, Antivirus, and Spam Filter components are set to “None.”
Disabling MailEnable will stop the mail server service. So we have to plan accordingly by migrating to an alternative mail server or opting for an external email provider.
