How to Delete the DNS Zone on Lightsail?

AWS Lightsail is a simplified cloud service by Amazon Web Services (AWS) designed for users who want to deploy and manage web applications, websites, and small-scale projects easily. Without the hassle of standard AWS services, customers can easily build up virtual servers, databases, and content delivery networks with Lightsail’s range of computing, storage, and networking options.

Lightsail simplifies DNS management by offering a set of default DNS records for the instances and resources we deploy within Lightsail. In case we wish to switch DNS hosting providers or return control of the domain’s DNS records to the registrar where we registered it, we can also remove the domain’s DNS zone from Amazon Lightsail.

Let’s look at the steps:

1. Select the Domains & DNS tab from the Lightsail console home screen.

2. Select the DNS zone name that we wish to remove.

3. Select the menu with a vertical ellipsis (⋮). Select Delete after that.

4. To verify the deletion, tap Delete DNS zone.

5. Lightsail removes the DNS zone.
