Imunify360 is a common firewall service used in cPanel servers.
But, we’ve seen a couple of errors while enabling Imunify360 in cPanel.
Today, we’ll see the related errors and how our Support Engineers troubleshoot them as part of our Server Management Services.
Top 2 common errors and how we fix it
To Install and enable Imunify360 cPanel is quite easy.
But, what if you encounter some errors in using Imunify360 plugin?
Here, we have the right solution to fix and let’s look at each one of them.
1. Database connection failures
Recently, one of our customers reported us with an issue resulting in MySQL connections from various web scripts. The symptoms include slow loading websites, frequent HTTP 500 errors, and MySQL connection related errors.
To solve this issue we took the below steps.
1. First, we use the backend command utility yum
yum clean all
yum update imunify360-php-i360
2. After updating, we restart Apache and PHP services.
3. Then we disable the Proactive Defense feature of Imunify360 temporarily.
4. Finally, deactivate and activate cagefs (a virtualized file system for users).
/usr/sbin/cagefsctl --disable-all
/usr/sbin/cagefsctl --enable-all
2. Apache Module: ModSecurity
Mod_security is a Web Application Firewall WAF to protect Apache web server and web applications from various attacks.
It is, therefore, very important to set up a proper mod_security plugin for Imunify360.
Without mod_security, Imunify360 will lack the features like WAF, malware scanning.
If mod_security is installed after Imunify360, it is important to execute the following command to add mod_security ruleset to Imunify360.
For cPanel, the command is:
imunify360-agent install-vendors
Also, if mod_security is installed before Imunify360, the rules will be installed automatically.
In addition, you need to disable all third-party rulesets before installing Imunify360 to get the full ruleset installed automatically.
Also, it is important to note that if the customer deploys Imunify360 with low resources then it causes high load.
So, to reduce the disk space we take necessary measures to optimize it and we give alternate solutions like CSF (Config Server Firewall), Login Failure Daemon (LFD) for the customers to use.
