How we resolve the error ‘VMWare: failed to upload to datastore’
Now let’s take a look at how our Support Engineers help our customers in resolving this error message.
As discussed above that this error occurs due to an untrusted SSL certificate, we need to add a vCenter certificate to the list of trusted certificates. Here are the steps for doing the same.
- First, go to the vSphere start page and click “Download trusted root CA certificates” in the bottom right corner.
- Next, in the Downloads go to the ..\certs\win folder. Then double-click the *.crt file and click the Install Certificate button.
- After that in the Certificate Import Wizard, place the vCenter certificate to the trusted root certificate store on your computer (Local Machine -> Trusted Root Certification Authorities).
- Now open the vCenter web interface and ensure that the untrusted certificate warning doesn’t appear.
- Finally, now you must be able to upload files to your VMFS datastore.
