Are A and CNAME not displaying in the Zone Editor interface?
At Bobcares, we offer solutions to different queries as a part of our Server Management Service.
Let’s take a look at how our Support Engineers worked out a solution for this specific issue.
How to resolve A and CNAME not displaying issue
Are you looking for a way to see the A and CNAME records in the Zone Editor interface in cPanel? Our Support Engineers are here with an easy solution, especially when you can see only the MX record.
This command will display the A and CNAME records in the zone:
# grep -P "\b(:?A|CNAME)\b" /var/named/domain.tld.db domain.tld. 14400 IN A 10.2.50.222 mail 14400 IN CNAME domain.tld. www 14400 IN CNAME domain.tld. ftp 14400 IN A 10.2.50.222 whm 14400 IN A 10.2.50.222 webdisk 14400 IN A 10.2.50.222 cpcontacts 14400 IN A 10.2.50.222 cpanel 14400 IN A 10.2.50.222 webmail 14400 IN A 10.2.50.222 cpcalendars 14400 IN A 10.2.50.222
We will replace domain.tld with the correct domain.
How to display A and CNAME records
- First, we will log in as the root user to WHM.
- Then we navigate to Home, Packages, Feature Manager, and select Feature Lists.
- Next, choose the feature list used by the account.
- After that, click Edit.
- Then, we will enter “Zone” in the search box.
- Next, we verify that both the Zone Editor features have a check next to them.
- After that, we will click the Save button to save the changes.
- Finally, we will log into the cPanel account and check that the A and CNAME records are displayed.
The Zone Editor(A, CNAME)feature enables the Zone Editor interface in cPanel and permits the cPanel account users to create A and CNAME records.
Our Support Engineers would like to point out that this feature is applicable only to the MX, A, and records created by the cPanel account user.
The Zone Editor(AAAA,CAA,DMARC,SRV,TXT)feature enables cPanel account users to create TXT, SRV, DMARC, CAA and AAAA records in the Zone Editor interface.
It also offers controls on whether a cPanel account user can see existing A, CNAME, and MX records.
