IGNORE_UNKNOWN_KERNEL in Kernelcare

Most often, Kernelcare may ignore unknown kernels, such as newer kernels. This is to hide messages that state, Kernelcare is not supported.

It is possible that newer kernels might not have patches yet. Hence, support arrives once Kernelcare begins to release those patches.

Moving ahead, let us see how our Support Techs fix this error in an easy method.

Initially, we check to see if Kernelcare is compatible. We will see the following output from the below command:

# wget -qq -O - https://kernelcare.com/checker | python

UNSUPPORTED

In order to check if any patches exist, the script reaches out to https://patches.kernelcare.com.

If none exist, such as for a newer CloudLinux Hybrid kernel, it will report “UNSUPPORTED”.

To ignore these messages from Kernelcare, we can execute the following command as the root user:

echo "IGNORE_UNKNOWN_KERNEL=True" >> /etc/sysconfig/kcare/kcare.conf
