New migration module in CWP – Features
CentOS Web Panel provides a user-friendly interface and helps to easily manage server and websites. Centos Web Panel is a free version. However, it offers a paid version too.
Usually, CentOS Web Panel comes with a bundled cPanel migration tool.
Newly, a module is added to the CWP panel which allows the migration of multiple accounts created in cPanel to the CWP server. The features include,
- Migrate multiple accounts and multiple remote servers
- Configure the number of simultaneous processes
- Package and account migration
- Accounts with the username over 8 characters
How we do multiple cPanel accounts migration to CWP
Here, let’s see how our Support Engineers doing cPanel Server Migration using a module.
1. Initially, we generate a Key API with ROOT ACCESS to create a connection to the remote cPanel server. For that, we login to the cPanel server and go to WHM’s Manage API Tokens interface via WHM >> Home >> Security Center >> Manage API Tokens.
2. After the generation of an API token, we log into the CWP admin panel and go to User Accounts >> cPanel Server Migration. Then we fill the details about the Remote server.
3. Once the connection is created, we can see a list in the Remote Server option list.
4. From that list, we choose the remote servers that want to migrate. Here, we can see the list of packages and accounts of the cPanel server, the packages and accounts that have already been migrated will have the label transferred. Also, it will label reseller accounts and suspended accounts.
5. Next, we select the packages and accounts that need to migrate to the new CWP server and click on the Start Migration button.
Moreover, we can see the status of the current migrations via the cPanel Server Migration module.
That’s it.
Multiple cPanel accounts migration to CWP – Related errors and fixes
At Bobcares, where we have more than a decade of expertise in managing servers, we see many customers face problems while performing cPanel server migration.
Now, let’s see the major reasons for this migration errors and how our Migration Engineers fix the top errors.
Problems with SSH
Recently, one of our customers had a problem while performing multiple cPanel accounts migration. He had used the module cPanel Server Migration to transfer the accounts. He got an error when he clicked the Test and Save button after filling the required details. The error message said, "Connection not reached The following error occurred".
Then, our Migration Engineers found two errors on php-fpm.log on directory /usr/local/cwp/php71/var/log.
1st: child 710 said into stderr: "stdin: is not a tty"
2nd: child 27323 exited with code 0 after 885.6925
Therefore, we solved the error by executing the command below on the CWP terminal.
ssh-copy-id user@server_ip_address
The ssh-copy-id is a script that uses ssh to log into a remote machine.
That’s it.
The other common problems
Similarly, many customers facing problems while creating a connection to the cPanel remote server from the CWP server as part of the cPanel migration.
This can happen for several things. It includes,
- When the cPanel server doesn’t allow ssh connections.
- That the cPanel API key doesn’t have root privileges.
- The cPanel’s firewall blocks the IP address of the CWP server.
So, before starting the cPanel migration, our Support Engineers always make sure the above conditions are met on the customer’s server.
