Are subdomains on Plesk server showing Server Default page?

Are your subdomains on Plesk server showing Server Default page? Read to find out what the experts at Bobcares have to say.

If you keep getting the Server Default page from your subdomains, you can stop worrying. The Support Engineers at Bobcares recently resolved a similar issue for a customer.

What to do if your subdomains on Plesk server showing Server Default page?

Typically, you wind up with a couple of additional symptoms when you get a Server Default page from subdomain on the Plesk server. Our Support Team recommends checking whether you have Litespeed extension as well as web server installed. Run this command to check the status:

# service httpd status
litespeed is running with PID 51813

You may have also noticed several domains with broken web configuration files in the Webserver Configuration troubleshooter. In such scenarios, the Apache reconfiguration also fails with the following errors:

/usr/local/psa/admin/bin/httpdmng --reconfigure-all
Warning: DocumentRoot [/var/www/vhosts/example.com/example2.com] does not exist
Syntax error on line 49 of /etc/httpd/conf/plesk.conf.d/webmails/example.com_webmail.conf:
SSLCACertificateFile: file '/usr/local/psa/var/certificates/certO6cmTF' does not exist or is empty

Running plesk repair wen -sslcerts does not help either in this situation.

According to our Support Team, this error is caused by a broken Apache configuration. Hence, Litespeed reads Apache Configuration directly.

The solution to subdomains on Plesk server showing Server Default page

  1. First, connect via SSH to the server.
  2. Run the following command and switch to Apache web server:
    # /usr/local/lsws/admin/misc/cp_switch_ws.sh apache
  3. Next, fix the missing certificate errors by running these commands:
    # ls -la /usr/local/psa/var/certificates/
    total 20
    ...
    -r-------- 1 psaadm psaadm 5024 Jun 2 15:48 cert5RtOCpu
    # cp /usr/local/psa/var/certificates/cert5RtOCpu /usr/local/psa/var/certificates/certO6cmTF
  4. After that create the missing directories to fix the DocumentRoot error.
  5. Try starting Apache with this command:
    # service Apache start
  6. Repeat steps 3 to 5 if other domains return errors.
  7. Reconfigure webserver configuration files after Apache starts with this command:
    # /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/httpdmng –reconfigure-all
  8. Finally switch to LiteSpeed with the command:
    # /usr/local/lsws/admin/misc/cp_switch_ws.sh lsws
