Azure Firewall Equivalent in AWS: Explained

by | Nov 14, 2022

Let us take a closer look at the azure firewall equivalent in aws. At Bobcares,  with the support of our Server management support service let us take look at the feature of Azure and why it is important.

Azure Network Firewall: azure firewall equivalent in aws

Azure Firewall is a cloud based, managed security service that protects the Azure Virtual Network’s resources. It includes built in high access and full cloud scalability. We can create, enforce and log the Policies for apps and network connections across subscriptions and virtual networks.

Azure Firewall gives a static public IP address to the virtual network items. This lets external firewalls to identify traffic from the virtual network. The service will fully merge the Azure Monitor for monitoring and analysis.

Azure customers need to install a firewall to protect themselves against cyber threats. Different types of Azure Firewalls have varied purposes inside the Microsoft cloud. They serve as monitors for connections between a certain area of the public cloud and the rest of the internet.

Features: Azure firewall equivalent in aws

The following traits are available in the Azure Firewall:

Scalability:

Firstly, The Azure Firewall can scale up to put up changing network traffic flows. And also set it up to remove the need to account for peak traffic.

Filtering Standard for Application FQDNs:

For outbound HTTP/S traffic, we may define a list of fully fit domain names (FQDNs), including wild cards. This feature is complete and does not need SSL to end.

Allow or reject network filtering rules:

We can give the Allow or refuse network filtering rules centrally by source and location IP address, port, and rules. Azure Firewall is totally stateful,  to select between lawful packets for various types of connections. Rules will enforce themselves across many accounts and virtual networks.

FQDN identifiers:

FQDN tags make it easy to allow traffic from known Azure service networks to get through the firewall. Assume we want to allow network traffic from Windows Update to get past the firewall. We can include the Windows Update tag in an application rule. Windows Update network traffic can now get across the firewall.

Support for outbound SNAT:

All arriving virtual network traffic’s IP addresses translate to the Azure Firewall’s public IP address (Source Network Address Translation). We can identify and permit traffic starting in the virtual network to and from remote Internet locations.

DNAT assistance:

Using DNS, inbound data transmission to the firewall’s public network is transformed and redirected to the virtual networks’ private IP addresses.

Logging in Azure Monitor:

Finally, all events will combine with Azure Monitor. To save logs to a storage server, stream them to an Event Hub, or send them to Log Analytics.

Why Azure Firewalls are Important

Cloud services are critical to internet structure and storage, using robust security solutions that give importance to usage. Firewall services developed for Microsoft Azure give security and assistance to firms. This is to save their data and applications, particularly those with simple needs.
