Selecting a service, or infrastructure provider isn’t a big deal, as long as you know “what your exact needs are”; and as to who can offer them. Though there are many points to consider before picking up a provider, a trade-off between cost and quality is what drives the decision making. In cases where both cost and quality meet, you look for other aspects.

Too many cooks spoil the broth

Involving multiple providers to render services and facilities, can invariably be challenging. The sheer overhead of liaising with multiple providers, along with the overhead of getting desired results in an efficient and timely manner can be deterrent in itself.

Cloudy weather - time for umbrellas!

Cloud is probably the most significant advancement that affected the world of computing in a big way. Even though the theory was old, the resurgence of the idea has led to benefits such as consolidation of infrastructure, lower costs, greater security(arguable), ease of management, better efficiency/productivity, and much more. All these, and it is quite obvious that the concept will stand the test of time.

Cloud the real edge

Many small to medium size enterprises have started to deploy Cloud as a standard computing solution. However, most of them tend to look at the paradigm shift in just the infrastructure angle. In reality, Cloud could very well re-define business models and alter products/solutions in a big way!

RackSpace + NASA = OpenStack

A few days after Microsoft announced their Azure Platform Appliance, a new Cloud OS entered the scene - OpenStack. While most Cloud OSes out there are proprietary, OpenStack is an open source cloud OS(Its being provided under the Apache 2.0 license) that is being jointly developed by RackSpace and NASA.

If your planning on getting into the Webhosting industry in a small way, this is something your going to be asking yourself. You could start off by setting up individual shared hosting accounts for each of the sites you plan to host, but handling 100 individual hosting accounts is definitely going to have you pulling your hair out by the end of the day, let alone a week! An introduction to DNSSEC

In the previous blog, we discussed various DNS vulnerabilities such as Cache Poisoning, Client Flooding, Information Disclosure attacks, Vulnerability in sharing a nameserver and DDos in DNS. DNSSEC provides answers to all except DDoS attacks. DNSSEC is not the abbreviation for DNS security but a set of resource records (such as A record, MX record) which can seamlessly integrate with our existing DNS infrastructure.
