by | Sep 10, 2021

Are you finding to tricky to enable file manager Vestacp? As part of our Server Management Services, we solve different VestaCP queries.

A file manager makes it easy to manage your folders and files via your browser. We understand why you would like to have a file manager in vesta. Read what our Engineers have to say.

Tips to enable file manager in vesta

Recently one of our long-time clients was unable to enable their VestaCP file manager. Before we get into that, let’s take a few minutes to talk about VestaCp. It has a modern graphical interface with a lot of functions.

Inspired by Midnight Commander Development Center, you can use VestaCP to make, rename, or delete a folder, as well as upload copy, edit, or move any file via your browser.

Unfortunately, VestaCP does not have a free file manager. Ultimately, you have to pay for the service through VestaCP’s official website if you plan to make it permanent on your server.

How to enable file Manager in vesta

Our engineers offer you a simple yet elegant solution to enable file manager in VestaCP even though there isn’t one by default.

  1. First, log in as root via a terminal to a Vesta installed server.
  2. Then, use any text editor to open the configuration file.
    vi/usr/local/vesta/conf/vesta.conf
  3. After that, add the line below at the end of the configuration file:
     FILEMANAGER_KEY='ILOVEREO'
  4. Then save & exit the file.
  5. Verify if you can access file manager by logging out and re-logging back into the Vesta panel.
