How to sync your text messages (sms) in an Android phone with an Exchange email account

by | Jul 2, 2015

For businesses that use SMS for business correspondence (eg., taking orders, getting instructions from customers, etc.), it is important to sync them with the official mail address. It allows easy sharing of client instructions, and facilitate faster service provisioning.

Here’s how you can configure an Android phone with an Exchange email account. For this example, we’ll refer a Samsung Galaxy S6 smart phone. The same general approach works in all Android phones.

1. Go to your Exchange account settings

a. Select Settings from the menu.
b. Select Account Settings.
c. Select your Exchange account.

2. Select advanced settings. This may not be visible immediately, and would mostly be at the bottom of the email account settings screen.

d. Scroll down to find a hidden More settings button at the bottom, and tap it.

3. Find the “Sync text messages” option and enable it.

e. On the More settings screen, scroll down again and find the "Sync text message" setting.
f. Check the text box for the option 'Sync text message'

Now all text messages in this phone should be visible in the corresponding Exchange account.
