by | Feb 27, 2021

Are you confused to choose the best control panel Ispconfig vs Vestacp?

A control panel is a GUI that shows a simplified set of controls for a device.

When considering which control panel to use, it requires a comparison of Ispconfig vs Vestacp.

As part of our Server Migration Services, we help customers in choosing the right control panel.

Today, in this write up, we’ll do an analysis of Ispconfig vs Vestacp.

Ispconfig – A quick Analysis

Firstly, let’s have a quick look at  Ispconfig

ISPConfig is an open-source hosting control panel for Linux. Which is capable of managing multiple servers from one control panel.

It licensed under the BSD license and developed by the company ISPConfig.

It is popular for its performance and better Linux support. ISPConfig allows administrators to manage websites, email addresses, databases, FTP accounts, shell accounts, and DNS records.

The software has 4 login levels: administrator, reseller, client, and email-user.

The standard interface of Ispconfig will appear as,

Vestacp – A quick Analysis.

VestaCP is one of the most popular, simple and convenient panels for managing sites. It is absolutely free and fully functional to use.

The main advantage is very easy to install and immediately available to anyone who decides to start working with it.

It is very simple and convenient for users. However, the Vestacp has paid technical support.

The Vestacp panel that we set up for one of our customers looks as shown below.

How to Choose a Control Panel?

When considering which control panel to use, we recommend our customers to review the following factors.

  1. Cost
  2. User interface
  3. Documentation.
  4. Features
  5. Community support
  6. Paid support
  7. Frequency of updates.

Depends on the above factors we can choose the right control panel as per our requirement.

Analysis of Ispconfig vs Vestacp

We just had a quick look at both Ispconfig and Vestacp. And both of them are better in different ways. Therefore, the decision to choose between Ispconfig and Vestacp becomes difficult.

We’ll now see how our Dedicated Engineers do an analysis of Ispconfig and Vestacp and help customers to make the right choice

Both Ispconfing and Vestacp are efficient with different features. However, the choice depends on the exact requirement of the customer. Let’s check these factors in detail.

1. Ease of installation.

The most important factor to consider while choosing the Ispconfig and Vestacp is the ease of installation. The Vesatcp is very simple to install and easy to use.

Unlike Vestacp, we see our customers using Ispconfig mainly for managing the VPS servers. The Ispconfig is difficult to setup. It does not come with a one-click auto-installer and is semi-manual. However, the Ispconfig having better Linux support. That means it can be used with a wide range of Linux flavors. In Ispconfig we need to do the installation manually step by step.

The Vestacp makes an ideal platform for resellers who want an easy and uncluttered interface. Most of the reseller customers use Vestacp because of its simple and effective interfaces.

2. Open-source

we noticed that the people who like to pick themselves up in everything the Vestacp will suitable for them. However, if there is no desire to dig deeper, then Vesta can be left in its original state.

ISPConfig can be downloaded and used for free. There is no cost involved in this case. ISPConfig has become a tempting prospect for individual bloggers, website owners, and small businesses.

3. Simplicity and Convenience

This is a very important factor to choose the correct control panel. The most important reason which Vesta fell in love with users it is easy to learn and easy to use.

This lightweight panel contains a lot of useful functions for working with the server.  Vesta is working quickly. And it is convenient to work with databases, and with the crown, and with DNS.

In the case of Ispconfig which is capable of managing multiple servers from one control panel. Ispconfig is easy and more convenient for multiple website owners such as reseller hosting. Also highly reliable software available under the BSD public license.

4. Ease of use

In Ispconfig there are 3 different roles admin, reseller and end-user. It is not a one-click-job panel, we just create a user and automatically have DNS zone, mail, FTP, etc. It is not so quick and simple like VestaCP, but it is more configurable and controlled. However, It has a good balance between the needs of an expert professional.

So it’s not difficult to use it if the noobie spends a couple of hours to learn the basics.

But in the case of Vestacp, the developer designed this Panel having in mind easiness for the user. The interface is clean, not complex, nice to your eye, quick (do most of the jobs with 2-3 clicks). Some advanced tasks can be done by using ssh.

5. Type of virtualization

This is another factor for choosing the control panel Ispconfig and Vestacp. This again depends on the servers that we would like to create.

ISPConfig is one of the only open-source control panels that support virtualization technology natively. It allows us to create OpenVZ containers (virtual servers) and set up a virtualized environment.

Luckily, the Vestacp also supports OpenVZ virtualization technology.

6. Technical Support.

Similarly, technical support is a major factor while choosing a control panel. In the case of Vestacp, technical support is a paid one. The cost of support depends on the time. Approximately, 1 hour costs $60, 5 hours – $180 (that is already $36 per hour). The cost for the support is big, therefore, when setting Vesta, we need to be confident to use this panel.

Unfortunately, In Ispconfig, finding technical help can be difficult.

Although we can buy an official user manual, no other official means of help is available. We only get help from the Ispconfig forum.

So to find out the best control is difficult. It involves a lot of factors like server type, resource availability, user crowd, cost, availability of features, etc.

[Still, confused on choosing the right panel for your virtual servers? We are here to help you.]

In short,  many factors depends to choose the right panel like Ispconfig and Vestacp. This write-up on Ispconfig and Vestacp gives an idea of how our Virtualization Engineers choose the best control panel for customers.
