Let’s discuss the steps to set up PostHog on LKE (Linode Kubernetes Engine). Bobcares, as a part of our Kubernetes Support offers solutions to every query that comes our way.

How to set up PostHog on LKE?

When the cluster is ready, PostHog can be installed with Helm and a yaml-formatted Helm chart. When compared to traditional installation methods, Helm substantially simplifies the installation process. There are only a few commands required. There are a few prerequisites we should have in place before installing PostHog:

1. Kubernetes Cluster

2. kubectl

3. Container Registry

4. Database

5. Domain and DNS

6. Access to Kubernetes Cluster

Steps to set up PostHog on LKE

1. Go to the Linode Kubernetes Engine after logging into the Linode account.

2. Select the desired location, Kubernetes version, and cluster size to create a new cluster.

3. Follow Linode’s instructions to install the Linode CLI on the local PC.

4. Run the required command to authenticate the CLI with the Linode account.

5. Connect to the Kubernetes cluster using the Linode CLI by issuing the following command (Replace with the name of our Kubernetes cluster):

6. Open a text editor and create a new file called posthog.yaml.

7. In the posthog.yaml file, paste the following YAML configuration:

8. Make sure to modify the environment variables POSTHOG_DATABASE_URL and POSTHOG_SITE_URL to meet the needs.

9. Exit the text editor and save the posthog.yaml file.

10. Run the following command to deploy PostHog to the Linode Kubernetes cluster:

11. Check the deployment’s status by running:

12. Wait until the PostHog pod is in the “Running” state. Then run the following command to get the PostHog service’s external IP address:

13. Lastly, In the web browser, navigate to the external IP address to access PostHog.
