Setup MailChannels for Plesk is not a difficult task nowadays. Here we can see the steps provided by our experts to set up MailChannels for Plesk.

All questions, no matter how big or small are answered by Bobcares as part of our Plesk Hosting Support.

Let’s have a glance at the procedures to set up MailChannels for Plesk.

Steps to configure Mailchannels in Plesk

At Bobcares, our support team provides a simple way for a Plesk MailChannels setup. The steps are as follows;

  1. In the Plesk extension manager, find the plugin Mailchannel.
  2. Then, log into the MailChannels dashboard and then select the SMTP tab. Then create a new username and password. Also, include a comment with the server name for the newly formed SMTP account.
  3. Then, add the SMTP username and information under the MailChannels plugin in Plesk. Then the plugin will create the DB files for Postfix.

Mailchannel uses port 25 or 2525 for communication. Email clients and services widely use SMTP port 25 to deliver emails. However, an ISP may block port 25 for a spam server. So we definitely require to find if port 25 is blocked with the below code;

root@bobcares:# telnet smtp.mailchannels.net 25
Trying 52.36.255.115...
Trying 35.165.44.153...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection timed out

We will receive a successful 220 answer if port 25 is available for Mailchannel setup in Plesk. Else, we will receive a connection error or no response at all. In such a case, verify that the server can connect to port 2525.

root@bobcares:~# telnet smtp.mailchannels.net 2525
Trying 52.36.255.115...
Connected to smtp.mailchannels.net.
Escape character is '^]'.
220 relay.mailchannels.net ESMTP

Now, we locate “relayhost” in /etc/postfix/main.cf and then modify as indicated.

relayhost = smtp.mailchannels.net:2525

Finally, we restart Postfix via the command line using the following command;

/etc/init.d/postfix restart
