A Network Error Occurred During Your Login Request cPanel

Do you need to know why “a network error occurred during your login request in cPanel?”. With our cPanel & WHM Support Services, Bobcares offers solutions to every cPanel query that comes our way.

A network error occurred during your login request in cPanel. Why?

We occasionally can see the following error message when logging into the cPanel account. Given that the network connection is still strong, we might be curious about it. In this article, we will look closely into some of the possible reasons behind the error and methods to fix those reasons.

“A network error occurred while sending your login request. Please try again. If this condition persists, contact your network service provider.”

In this article, we’ll examine some of the potential causes of the problem and provide some solutions.

Causes and Solutions for the Error

Cause 1: Accessing cPanel via a non-SSL link. For E.g., http://cpanel.yourdomainname

Solution: The servers are set up to only let cPanel receive SSL-encrypted communication. In this case, use a different link to fix this error and log in to cPanel. E.g., login to cPanel through the link http://yourdomainname/cpanel. This will redirect the user to the server’s hostname with SSL enabled.

Cause 2: Login on the cPanel account as the root account in Linux systems.

Solution: We can not access cPanel with the “root” username. The “root” username only works for Web Host Manager. In this case, the hostname may be configured with the domain name. To fix the error, update the hostname to something such as “server.mydomain.com”.

Cause 3: Improper proxying of https://cpanel.<domain> requests to the cPanel backend by the servers. The https backend proxying is not functioning properly because of a conflict between the server and the most recent version of cPanel.

Solution: In this case, we can fix the error temporarily by commenting out the HTTPS rewrite rules from /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf. A permanent fix is reinstalling the server to the latest version.

Cause 4: Several failed login attempts to cPanel resulted in blacklisted Internet IP in the “cPHulk Brute Force Protection”.

Solution: In this case, we have to remove the blacklisting. We need another server to do so as the primary one is already blacklisted. Try logging in from one terminal to another while whitelisting the IP address from “cPHulk Brute Force Protection”. Now we can log in without the error.

Cause 5: Old browser caches.

Solution: Clearing the cache of the browser or use another browser. It helps to reduce the chance of using old forms. Hence increasing the performance of cPanel.
