Plesk Restricted Mode: How to Enable?

by Manu Menon | Apr 23, 2023 | Latest, Plesk | 0 comments

Please Note: This article is part of our historical archive. Because it was published a while ago, some of the information, links, or context may now be outdated.

Let us look at how to enable the plesk restricted mode with the support of our Plesk hosting support services at Bobcares.

What is Plesk restricted mode?

plesk restricted mode

This mode is a security feature that enables users to limit access to particular portions of the Plesk interface, such as customer and reseller administration, to specified people or groups.

Some Plesk tools are available in this mode by default, while others are not. We may specify which tools must be accessible in Restricted Mode.

When we enable Restricted Mode for Plesk administrators (both primary and secondary), they only have access to the tools we provide and cannot stop the Mode through the interface.

How to enable plesk restricted mode?

To activate this security measure, follow the procedures outlined below:

      1. Firstly, Log in as an administrator to Plesk.
      2. Select “Tools & Settings” > “Restricted Mode” from the menu.
      3. We have to choose “Enable Restricted Mode”.
      4. Choose whatever portions of the Plesk interface we wish to limit access to.
      5. After that, by choosing “Add” and selecting the relevant user or group, we can specify which users or groups should be limited.

To save the changes, press the “OK” button.

How to disable restricted mode in Plesk?

Follow the steps given below to disable the feature:

  1. Log in as an administrator to Plesk.
  2. Select “Tools & Settings” > “Restricted Mode” from the menu.
  3. Click the “Disable Restricted Mode” button.
  4. Click “Yes” to confirm that we wish to disable restricted mode.

After we disengage limited mode, all users and groups will have full access to the Plesk interface, including previously blocked areas.

It is critical to disengage limited mode only when we are positive that it is no longer required, as doing so may compromise the security of the Plesk installation.
