Activate memcached cpanel

Wondering how to activate memcached cpanel? Our cPanel Support team is here to lend a hand with your queries and issues.

How to activate memcached cpanel?

Memcached is a general-purpose distributed memory caching system.

It is often used to speed up dynamic database-driven websites by caching data and objects in RAM to reduce the number of times an external data source must be read.

To enable Memcached,

  •  Firstly, login to your cPanel
  • Next, find Memcached under the Software section and click on it
  • To enable Memcached, choose the maximum cache size you’d like Memcached to able to use from the dropdown box below, and click the switch to on. We would recommend setting the Memcached value to no more than 25-50% of your total available RAM:
  • Finally, enable the Memcached PHP Extension via the PHP Selector tool in cPanel.

You should now be able to select and use Memcached, as a caching method for your application.

Memcached runs as UNIX socket, which is ~116% faster, as no TCP connection is required to connect to it, so to configure your application properly, you’ll need to specify the Memcached socket address

How To Enable Memcached for your WordPress Website

Firstly, from your WordPress Dashboard, navigate to LiteSpeed Cache > Cache > Object.

Object Cache should be ON and Method should be Memcached

As explained above, set only the Username and Password that you’ve previously set in cPanel.

The other fields should remain set as default.

Do this for each WordPress install as necessary.

That’s all. Now you know how to enable Object Cache for your WordPress site.

How To Enable Memcached for other web apps
