Lost Digital Ocean SSH key

No worries if we have lost our Digital Ocean SSH key and are unable to login. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions.

1. Firstly, sign in to the Digital Ocean account.
2. Then, choose the Droplet that we want to recover.
3. Navigate to the Access menu and select the Reset Password option.
4. Then, copy the Password that we received via email.
5. Then, click the Launch Console.
6. Enter root as the username.
7. Copy the password and paste it using right click or CTRL+V, then press Enter.
8. Then, when Digital Ocean prompts us to change the password, enter our current password first.
9. After that, create a New password.
10. Then, re-enter the New password
11. We’ve now logged in using Console.
12. However, we need to enable password login for the droplet, so run the command below:

    nano /etc/ssh/sshd_config
13. Then, replace the word

    no

    with

    yes

    in the line

    PasswordAuthentication

    .
14. Use the CTRL+O command to save the file. After that, press the Enter key.
15. Finally, Using the reboot command, restart the Droplet.

    reboot
16. We can now login to Putty SSH client with a password rather than an SSH key.
