WHM shows incorrect Bandwidth

Suppose the server does not have sufficient CPU resources. Then cPanel will pause statistics processing because it can be a very CPU-intensive process.

Though this helps to reduce server failure, the result will be that no statistics data will be available for us to review.

• In WHM at Home »Account Information »View Bandwidth Usage

The bandwidth usage is shown as zero for all or some accounts on the server.

• In WHM at Home »Server Configuration »Statistics Software Configuration

The following message will display in bright red lettering:

The server is having trouble keeping up with your statistics processing schedule. You should increase the time between statistic generation, or upgrade the server. If you have recently decreased the time between statistic generation, you may wish to wait that amount of time to see if the server will catch up before changing back.

• In the log at /usr/local/cpanel/logs/stats_log

In this case, we will find messages similar to the following:

[2021-06-13 00:33:00 +1200] logrunner (Sun Jun 13 00:33:00 2021): System load is currently 4.39; waiting for it to go down below 0.88 to continue …

So, we will find a notification with a subject similar to the following:

Statistics processing for 5 users is lagging

In order to resolve this, we need to diagnose the cause of the high CPU usage.

In addition, we need to implement a plan to either increase the CPU resources available to the server or reduce the CPU usage to acceptable levels.
