Here are a few troubleshooting tips to help you resolve WHM update failure in UPCP script error. Our Server Management Support team is here to lend a hand with your queries and issues.

WHM update failure in UPCP script error | Troubleshooting Tips

Web Host Manager or WHM can be described as a web-based control panel used to manage a cPanel server. Additionally, the UPCP script ( Update cPanel & WHM) helps us update cPanel as well as WHM to the latest version. If you have come across the WHM update failure in the UPCP script, you have come to the right place.

The script may fail due to various reasons like incorrect permissions, a lack of available disk space, an issue with the internet connection, and so on. In order to resolve the error, we have to do a bit of troubleshooting to identify the cause behind the issues.

Our experts are here to lend a helping hand with troubleshooting this error.

WHM update failure in UPCP script error | Troubleshooting Tips

First, we have to take a look at the OS version as well as the cPanel sysinfo configuration. We can find this information in the following files:

  • cat /etc/redhat-release
  • cat /var/cpanel/sysinfo.config

Here, we have to ensure the “rpm_dist_ver” is not configured as “unknown” in the /var/cpanel/sysinfo.config file. Furthermore, the “rpm_dist_ver” has to match the major version of the OS.

For instance, it should have a value of 5 if the OS version is 5.9.

Alternatively, we can run the following commands to check the versions:

$ sudo cat /etc/cpupdate.conf
$ sudo cat /usr/local/cpanel/version
$ sudo cat /var/cpanel/updatelogs/update.abc.log

Remember to replace update.abc.log with the recent update log where the update failed.

Next, we have to run this command:

$ sudo /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/find_outdated_services

At this point, we can rebuild the RPM database by navigating to Rebuild RPM Database under Software in WHM Home.

Additionally, we can run this command manually to check if it fails, and to verify the fail message:

$ sudo /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/post_sync_cleanup

If the above tips did not help, our experts suggest forcing another cPanel update with the “/scripts/upcp –force” command.

We can also try the following commands to resolve the WHM update failure in the UPCP script issue:

$ sudo yum clean all
$ sudo yum update
