PhpMyAdmin continuously redirecting can be a result of a corrupt “mysql” database.

In addition, it can also mean that it requires an upgrade.

PhpMyAdmin continuously redirecting

Once we encounter this issue, it is possible that we may not be able to access the “mysql” database while accessing PhpMyAdmin.

If we check the cPanel error log we can find the below information is reported:

Cpanel::Exception::Database::Error/(XID 6pga43) The system received an error from
the “MySQL” database “mysql”:
1805 (Column count of mysql.proc is wrong.
Expected 21, found 20. The table is probably corrupted)

Moving ahead, let us see how our Support Techs fix this issue.

In order to resolve this, we need to perform a mysql_upgrade.

However, our Support Techs recommend to first take a backup of the databases prior to the resolution steps.

In case, we don’t have any database backups and are not sure how to take a backup, we can use the command below:

mysqldump --all-databases | bzip2 -c > /home/databasebackup.sql.bz2

Once we finish with taking the backup of the databases, we can use the command below to ensure all database tables checks and upgrades for the latest version:

mysql_upgrade

Once we complete this, PhpMyAdmin will be able to load once again.
