AWS Lightsail Containers | How To Create It?

by | Sep 19, 2022

Let’s take a closer look at AWS Lightsail Containers in this article. At Bobcares, with our AWS Support Services, we can handle your AWS Lightsail issues.

AWS Lightsail Container Services

A container service provided by Amazon Lightsail is a highly scalable computation and networking resource that allows users to deploy, run, and manage containers. A container is a standard unit of software that puts code and its dependencies together so that the application can be moved from one computing environment to another quickly and reliably.

In any AWS Region where Lightsail is available, we can create a Lightsail container service. We have to select the capacity parameters such as Scale and Power when we create the container service for first time.

  • Scale: The number of compute nodes on which our container workload should run. The container workload is replicated among the service’s compute nodes. We can define up to 20 compute nodes for a container service.
  • Power: Each node’s Memory and vCPUs in the container service.

How To Create AWS Lightsail Container Services?

We have to run the below steps to create a Lightsail container service without a deployment.

  1. Firstly, log in to the Lightsail console.
  2. Then select the Containers tab on the Lightsail home page.
  3. Now select Create container service.
  4. Choose Change AWS Region on the Create a container service page, then select an AWS Region for the container service.
  5. Set a capacity for the container service.
  6. Provide a name for the container service. The name should be 2 to 63 characters of alphanumeric characters and hyphens. A hyphen (-) can separate words but cannot be at the start or end of the name. The name should also be unique within each AWS Region in the Lightsail account.
  7. In order to add tags to the container service, select one of the options: Add key-only tags or Edit key-only tags or Create a key-value tag.
  8. Finally, select Create container service.

Now the management page for the new container service appears. During its creation, the state of the new container service is Pending. After a few moments, the state of the service changes to Ready.
