How to Add a Domain to a DigitalOcean Droplet?
A DigitalOcean Droplet is a scalable virtual private server (VPS) provided by DigitalOcean. They are the core compute resources used to deploy various apps, websites, and services. We must run the following steps in order to create a domain in DigitalOcean droplet:
1. Initially, login to the domain provider account.
2. Click on “manage domain” and select the domain we want to point to the DigitalOcean droplet.
3. Then, look for the option labeled DNS or NameServer.
4. Choose custom DNS and add the following three Nameservers: ns1.digitalocean.com, ns2.digitalocean.com, and ns3.digitalocean.com. It may take 24-48 hours for the DNS changes to take effect.
5. Log in to the DigitalOcean account.
6. Select “Networking” from the navigation menu.
7. In the Domain tab, click on the option to add a domain.
8. Enter the domain name (e.g., example.com) and the droplet’s IP address, then click on “Create Record”.
9. Sign in to the DigitalOcean account and go to the “Networking” section in the main menu.
10. Select the domain for which we want to add the CNAME record.
11. Click on “Add Record” and choose “CNAME” from the drop-down menu.
12. In the “Name” section, provide www, and in the “Target” section, enter the domain (e.g., example.com).
13. Lastly, save the changes by clicking “Create Record”.
