The steps include:

1. To use Linode instances as Docker hosts in the Swarm cluster, create and set up them. A Swarm cluster typically needs several Linode instances for scalability and redundancy.

2. Set up Docker Engine on every instance of Linode. The runtime that enables us to run containers on the hosts is called Docker Engine.

3. Use the docker swarm init command to initialize the Swarm cluster and select one of the Linode instances to serve as the Swarm manager. The cluster’s other nodes will be coordinated by this manager node.

4. Use the swarm join code to join the remaining Linode instances as worker nodes to the Swarm cluster. The Swarm manager will direct these worker nodes on how to run containers.
