Rewrite & Republish is a great option when we’re duplicating a piece of content to update existing content rather than publishing a new piece of content. It is a really useful method when the updates are large.

Rewrite And Republish makes a replica of the live content that we may work on for changes. When we’re finished with the changes, simply republish to the original URL to overwrite the existing content.

Rewrite And Republish Using Duplicate Post Plugin

The steps to rewrite and republish content are as follows:

1. Firstly, download and install the Yoast Duplicate Post Plugin.
2. After installing and activating the plugin, open the post we want to rewrite and republish. We can do it using any of the two ways.

   (i) We can hover the mouse over the Duplicate Post symbol in the top toolbar to open the post we want to edit. We’ll notice the choice to Rewrite & Republish.

   (ii) When we hover over the title of the post in the overview, we can click the Rewrite & Republish option.
3. Now rewrite and update the content. Now we can do the edit without letting the site visitor see we work on the content. While working, one can compare the differences between the current and new versions.
4. After the edits, click on Republish to republish the post, and the plugin will publish the new content over the old one. The plugin will also move the old draft to the trash.

The ability to schedule content revisions to go live at a later date is one of the most useful features of the rewrite and republish capability. Rewrite the post, then when we’re finished, go to the Post settings and select the date we want the new post to go live. Then, to schedule the post, click the blue Schedule republish button.
