- Improves Cache, performance, and reliability by using a CDN for IPFS content : When using the Cloudflare IPFS Gateway, customers get the additional benefit of using the Cloudflare CDN, which can cache IPFS content close to users, increasing overall performance.
- IPFS Gateway and Cloudflare security, reliability, and performance capabilities/products are all accessible through a single panel: Customers can use IPFS Gateway to manage their entire security model, as well as other Cloudflare reliability and performance capabilities/products, from a single interface.

The architecture and design
The Cloudflare IPFS Gateway is an HTTP-based interface to IPFS that allows users to retrieve IPFS content quickly.
There are a few things to keep in mind:
- A CNAME for ipfs.cloudflare.com will creates automatically in the DNS for the respective domain.
- When the IPFS gateway receives a request for a specific domain, it looks up the value of the DNSLink TXT record for that domain to determine what content to serve.
- It includes a Cloudflare Workers code component that runs on Cloudflare servers all over the world. These data centres are spread across more than 100 countries providing 100 terabits per second of network capacity and DDoS protection.
- Every Cloudflare data centre has IPFS nodes. The Cloudflare Workers code makes API calls to the local IPFS nodes, which can then access the local IPFS blockstore.
- IPFS nodes in the local data centre communicate with other IPFS nodes in Cloudflare’s network. It can access public IPFS network when needed.
- Users will always access the data centre closest to them because Cloudflare’s network uses Anycast. The Anycast network also ensures high availability by automatically rerouting traffic to another data centre in the event of a problem.
