Set up Promiscuous mode in VMware using the Distributed Switch
In VMware, promiscuous mode is a configuration that may be defined on a Distributed Switch (vDS) to allow a virtual machine (VM) to receive all network traffic on a specific virtual network, regardless of whether the data is meant for that VM or not. This mode is generally used for network monitoring, packet capture, or other specific networking applications.
In order to set up the mode, we must have the proper permissions and access to the VMware vSphere Web Client or vSphere Client.
Steps to set up Promiscuous mode in VMware with vDS
We must follow the below steps in order to set up Promiscuous mode in VMware using the Distributed Switch:
1. Log in to the vCenter Server using the vSphere Web Client or vSphere Client.
2. Navigate to the Networking section and pick the Distributed Switch to configure promiscuous mode.
3. Click the Distributed Switch and select “Edit Settings” or “Properties.”
4. Locate the “Security” section or tab in the settings dialog.
5. We will find numerous settings relating to the switch’s security rules under the Security section. Search for the “Promiscuous mode” option.
6. We can choose one of the following alternatives based on our needs: Reject, Accept, and Accept (with MAC address changes).
7. Based on the needs, select the suitable choice.
8. Click “OK” or “Apply” to save the changes.
Please keep in mind that enabling promiscuous mode on a Distributed Switch can have security consequences. It is critical to thoroughly assess the use case as well as the potential risks of permitting VMs to receive all network data.

it aint working this way. dswitch has no security tab in properties, this may have to be configured on per-vlan or per-uplink basis.
