DirectAdmin Convert Reseller to User | 2 Solutions
If you want to downgrade your Reseller account to a User account, this blog is the right place to be.
According to our experts, there are two ways to get the job done. We can either opt for a script or proceed manually.
Method 1: Manually
- To begin with, log into the DirectAdmin server with SSH.
- Then, open the /usr/local/directadmin/data/users/USERNAME/user.conf for editing.
- Next, we must modify the username type from “reseller” to “user”.
- Now, we have to edit the /usr/local/directadmin/data/admin/reseller.list file and locate the line with
“USERNAME” and remove it. - Then, add the USERNAME to the admin user by editing the /usr/local/directadmin/data/users/admin/users.list file and add a new row with the USERNAME.
At this point, the USERNAME is not a reseller. We do not have to delete the Reseller-related files. Furthermore, we can use them later if we decide to upgrade.
Method 2: Via Script
We can easily downgrade a Reseller account to a User account via the /usr/local/directadmin/scripts/reseller_to_user.sh script.
./reseller_to_user.sh <user> <reseller>
Here, <user> is the name of the account we want to downgrade and <reseller> is the name of the new creator of the User. By running the script, we can easily downgrade from Reseller accoutn to a User account.
