How to Uninstall Engintron

Engintron is a well-known tool used to install and manage the Nginx web server as a reverse proxy on cPanel servers.

Furthermore, it is designed to improve the performance as well as security of Apache web servers by sharing some of the workloads with Nginx.

How to Uninstall Engintron

In case we have installed Engintron on our cPanel server and no longer need it, we can easily uninstall it with these steps:

  1. First, we have to log in to our server as the root user.
  2. Then, we have to head to the Engintron directory with these commands:

    cd /
    cd /engintron<code\>

  3. Next, we must run the uninstall script with the following command:

    bash uninstall.sh

  4. Then, we have to follow the prompts to carry out the installation process.

The above steps will push the uninstall script to remove all the files and configurations related to Engintron from our server. Additionally, it will restore the original Apache configuration files, that were backed up during the installation process.

Once we uninstall Engintron, you have to restart the Apache web server to ensure that the changes come into effect. This can be done with this command:

systemctl restart httpd

Alternatively, we can uninstall Engintron with these steps as well:

  1. First, log in as the root user in our server via an SSH connection.
  2. Then, run the following commands:

    $ engintron remove

This will revert our system back to its previous state.

In case Apache fails to start after uninstalling Engintron, we have to open up WHM and navigate to “Tweak Settings”. Then head to Apache’s HTTP port field and change the value to 0.0.0.0:80 if the value is 0.0.0.0:8080.

Then, click save before restarting Apache from within WHM.
