OpenLiteSpeed Virtual Host | In A Simple Way

by | Jan 29, 2024

An overview of OpenLiteSpeed virtual hosts is provided in this article. Bobcares, as a part of our Server Management Service offers solutions to every query that comes our way.

OpenLiteSpeed Virtual Hosts

Users can manually change the server config files or use OpenLiteSpeed’s interface to build virtual hosts. Every virtual host is associated with a particular app or website. Let’s look into the creation steps:

1. Initially, make the virtual host’s directories. Here, we went to the LSWS directory and make the following using the CLI:

OpenLiteSpeed virtual host

2. Now, make conf owned by lsadm:lsadm so that only the WebAdmin console will be able to change config.

OpenLiteSpeed virtual host

3. Then, go to the WebAdmin console >> Virtual Hosts >> Add in order to add the virtual hosts.

4. Enter virtual host’s name, the virtual host root file, and the virtual host config file. Additionally, we must decide whether to allow scripts on this website and whether or not users can access content from the website that is hosted outside of this virtual host root.

6. Now, go to General tab & make the Document Root as $VH_ROOT/html.

7. In order to create and assign listeners, go to WebAdmin console >> Listeners. We can set up many listeners. Each of which only listens to a single IP address. We can also have one listener that listens to all local IP addresses. Many users will find it easier to map one listener to numerous domains. However, multiple listeners can be helpful. For e.g., if we want to reserve specific server CPUs for specific sites. Here, we are going with the default listener.

8. Click VirtualHost maping add click Add icon.

9. Now provide the Virtual Host and Domains considering our environment.

10. When we’re finished, gently restart.

11. Lastly, go to the dashboard’s virtualhost area to view our new host.
