Softaculous Import Installation

Softaculous is a well-known auto-installer software preferred by many web hosting companies. It makes the process of installing various web applications, like content management systems, e-commerce platforms, forums, blogs, and so on a lot easier.

Furthermore, it allows us to import an existing installation of a web application into the Softaculous interface. This is a handy feature if we have already manually installed a web application on our hosting account and now want to manage it through Softaculous.

By importing an existing installation, we can benefit from Softaculous’ automated updates, backups, and easy management features. Additionally, the software recognizes the imported installation and allows us to perform actions like updating the application, creating backups, and even cloning the installation for testing or development purposes.

We can easily run the import process with the following steps:

1. First, we have to log in to cPanel.
2. Then, head to the Tools page and click Softaculous Apps Installer if we are using the Jupiter theme. However, if we are using that Paper Lantern theme we will find this button in the cPanel home screen.
3. Next, enter the application we want to import in the Search box and click Enter.
4. Then, click Import. This will open up the Import Software page.
5. At this point, we have to select the protocol from the Choose Protocol list box.
6. Next, we must choose the domain where the application is installed in the Choose Domain list box.
7. Finally, enter the directory where the application is currently installed in the In Directory text box.
   However, if the application is installed in the document root directory we can leave the In Directory text box blank.
8. Finally, it is time to click Import. If the process is successful, we will get a congratulatory message.
