Let’s take a look at how our Support Team is ready to help customers when Watchdog script “secur-check” fails in Plesk.

How to resolve Watchdog script “secur-check” fails in Plesk

The Watchdog component ensures the server is free of malware in addition to ensuring all services are up and running. Moreover, it also ensures there is adequate free disk space on the server. Watchdog can monitor several services including:

  • Plesk Web Server
  • Plesk PHP Engine
  • Courier POP3 Server
  • SMTP Server (Postfix)
  • Web server (Apache)
  • Courier IMAP server with SSL/TLS support
  • Courier Authentication daemon
  • DNS Server (BIND)
  • Courier IMAP server
  • Plesk SpamAssassin
  • Plesk Premium Antivirus
  • PHP-FPM (FastCGI Process Manager)
  • Fail2Ban authentication failure monitor

The Watchdog script “secur-check” fails error often results in a /usr/local/psa/libexec/modules/watchdog/cp/secur-check fail with the following message:

ERR [panel] No entry is registered for key 'container':

According to our Support Team, this error is due to the Plesk bug ID PPPM-13385. If you do not want to wait till a future product update comes out, here is a workaround solution by our Support Techs:

  1. First, we connect to the Plesk server through SSH.
  2. Next, download the patch file with the following command:
    # wget https://plesk.zendesk.com/hc/article_attachments/4416961947026/wdcplib.zip
  3. Then, we can extract the file with this command:
    # unzip wdcplib.zip
  4. After that, rename the original file as seen below:
    # mv /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/modules/watchdog/wdcplib.php /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/modules/watchdog/wdcplib.php.orig
  5. Finally, move the patched file as seen below:
    # mv wdcplib.php /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/modules/watchdog
