How to create a droplet in DigitalOcean

DigitalOcean makes it easy to set up and manage virtual servers, also known as Droplets.

Today, we will go through the process of creating our first Droplet using DigitalOcean’s Control Panel.

1. First, we have to sign up for a DigitalOcean account and log in.
2. Then, log in and click the Create button to open the Create menu.
3. Here are the key choices we have to make:
   • • Choose Region: Select the region where we want our Droplet to be hosted.
     • Choose an Image: Decide the base image for our Droplet.
     • Choose Size: Select the amount of resources our Droplet will have.
4. This optional step involves creating and attaching additional DigitalOcean Volumes to our Droplet. These volumes act as independent storage drives that can be moved between Droplets within the same datacenter.
5. Now, we can choose an Authentication Method. The options include SSH key and password.
6. Then, head to the “We recommend these options” section and enable optional services to improve our Droplet’s functionality. Additionally, we can access advanced options by expanding the “+Advanced Options” section.
7. In the Finalize Details section, we can specify:
   • Quantity
   • Hostname
   • Tags
   • Project
8. After configuring the options we have to click “Create Droplet.”
9. Once the Droplet is fully set up, the Control Panel will display its IP address. We can use this IP address to log in to our Droplet. To make changes or access more details about our Droplet, we have to click its name in the Control Panel or use the “More” menu for quick access.
