Enable HTTPS In AWS Lightsail WordPress

Enabling HTTPS on our WordPress website assures visitors that our site is secure, sending and receiving encrypted data.The address of a non-secure website begins with http, such as http://example.com, whereas the address of a secure website begins with https, such as https://example.com.

Step 1: Login to the AWS management console.

Firstly we need to log in to the Amazon Web Services management console via the link https://aws.amazon.com/

Step 2: Create a CNAME record in DNS.

In this step we need to create DNS CNAME record for www.. against the ..

Navigate to Route53 service, then Hosted Zone, then Create record, and finally create a CNAME record for the subdomains if we’re using AWS Route53 as the domain registrar.

Step 3: Navigate to the Lightsail console.

In this step we navigate to the Lightsail console, from the Services.

Step 4: Connect to the Lightsail WordPress instance.

We’ll connect to the Lightsail WordPress instance in this step either through the browser by clicking on the “command” icon or via SSH.

Step 5: For the Lightsail WordPress instance, enable TSL.

To enable TSL for the Lightsail WordPress instance, run the following command.

sudo /opt/bitnami/bncert-tool

Our WordPress website, which is hosted on AWS Lightsail, now has SSL enabled. If we go to the domain now, we’ll be able to connect to it via HTTPS.
