Through this process, the virtual machine will now be imported and will appear in the list of virtual machines in the VirtualBox interface. Now select the virtual machine and click the “Start” button in the VirtualBox toolbar. A new window will be launched for running the virtual machine.
Once this startup process is completed, you should get a login prompt in the virtual machine console. This will display the login credentials for the application and the current IP address of the virtual machine. You can access the application at the given URL with IP from the console, by launching your Web browser and browsing to the virtual machine’s IP address. You should get the front page of your blog with a sample post.
Step 2: Login and start using WordPress
To access the WordPress dashboard, follow these simple steps:
- Browse to the WordPress dashboard with the URL http://Host-IP/wp-admin.
- Next, log in with the administrator credentials from the previous step.
You will then log in to the WordPress dashboard, this allows you to manage posts, and pages, customize your blog with themes and plugins, manage navigation menus, import and export content add or delete new user’s profiles and much more.
Create your first post
You can now add a new post using the below steps:
- Click on the “Posts” >> “Add New” menu option to create a post.
- Enter a content title for the post.
- Edit by choosing the format and category for your post.
- Finally, publish it immediately using the “Publish” button.
Eventually, newly edited posts will display when you visit the blog’s front page. You now have a fully-functional WordPress blog in the cloud.
Keep your WordPress installation up-to-date
With the WordPress update feature, you can keep your WordPress installation up-to-date. Below are the steps to follow:
- Log in to your WordPress account.
- Select the “Dashboard >> Updates” menu item.
- Review the resulting page to see if any WordPress updates require. If an update is available then you can install it by clicking on the “Update Now” button.
