How to configure WHMCS to use SMTP in WHMCS 7
WHMCS offers us the ability to send out emails via the PHP mail() function without any additional configuration. Although this is a great way to reliably send mail, we can also opt to use SMTP.
In order to use SMTP, our Support Engineers recommend navigating to Mail Tab in General Settings in the Setup section.
Then, we have to change the Mail Type dropdown to SMTP. We have to enter the SMTP settings we got from the Web Host or Email Host.
Our Support Engineers recommend paying extra attention to the SMTP Port as well as SMTP SSL Type. Entering the wrong details will prevent mail from going out in WHMCS.
After that, we have to click Save Changes in order to have your mail sent out via SMTP.
How to create an SMTP Account in cPanel
- First, log in to the cPanel account.
- Then, navigate to Email Accounts.
- After that, we will create a new email account by entering the required details in the form.
- Next, we will be able to see the new email account we made in the list of Email Accounts. Then, we have to choose the Setup Mail Client option for the new email account.
- Then, we will be able to see all the information under the Mail Client Manual Settings section as seen below:
