Linode Resize Disk is now easy with these steps in this article.  Read on to find out more. At Bobcares, with our Server Management Service, we can handle your Linode issues.

Resizing Linode Disk

The steps for resizing a Linode Disk are as follows:

  1. Firstly, log in to the Cloud Manager. Then select a Linode from the list by clicking the Linode’s link in the sidebar.
  2. Click the Power Off button in the upper right of the page(or within the ellipsis menu). Make sure the Linode has been fully powered off.
  3. Now go to the Storage tab on Linode’s dashboard page.
  4. Locate the disk to resize from the Disks table. Then click the corresponding Resize button. This displays the Resize Disk form.
  5. Enter the new disc size in megabytes in the Size field. The new disc size must fall between the maximum and minimum disc sizes.
  6. Now click Resize. We can keep track of the resizing from the Disks table on Linode’s Storage page.
  7. Finally, after the disk has been successfully resized, click the Power On button to boot up the Linode.

Things To Remember While Resizing Linode Disk

We have to keep in mind certain things while resizing the Linode disk. Let’s look at them.

Maximum size of a disk: This should be equal to equal to the current size of the disk and the remaining unallocated storage space on the Linode.

Minimum size of a disk: This should be equal to the current disk usage within the filesystem.

We can only resize Raw disks to a larger disk.

We cannot resize Custom partitioned discs.

Resizing Linode

The following steps allow us to resize the Linode to a different plan.

  1. Firstly, log in to the Cloud Manager. Then select the Linodes link within the left sidebar.
  2. Find the Linode we like to resize from the list of Linodes. Now click the corresponding more options ellipsis drop-down menu, and select Resize. Now the Resize Linode panel appears.
  3. Choose the desired plan for the Linode. There is also an Auto Resize option available so that it automatically resizes the primary disk.
  4. Finally, to start with the resizing, enter the Linode’s label in the Confirm field. Then select the Resize Linode button.
  5. If the Linode is on, it is turned off throughout the resize process. When the resize finishes, the Linode switches back to its initial power setting.

Now we can utilize the resources of the new plan.
