PowerPanel unable to establish communication with UPS

CyberPower PowerPanel Unable to establish communication with UPS

This error lets us know that the PowerPanel software running on our computer is not able to connect to and communicate with the connected UPS device. This may be due to several reasons as seen here:

  • First, we have to ensure that the UPS is properly connected to our computer. Hence, we have to check the USB, serial, network cable, etc. If it’s a USB connection, we should try using a different USB port or cable.
  • Next, we have to check the PowerPanel software’s settings to make sure it is set up correctly. In other words, the software should be configured to communicate with the correct communication port that the UPS is connected to.
  • Then, we have to check if the UPS model is supported by the version of the PowerPanel software we are using.
  • Furthermore, the UPS communication may need certain drivers to be installed on our computer.
  • In some cases, firewalls or security software on our computer may block the communication between the PowerPanel software and the UPS.
  • Other software applications running on our computer may interfere with the PowerPanel software’s communication with the UPS. We have to close unnecessary programs and see if the communication is up.
  • Then, we can test the UPS on a different computer or try a different UPS if available to see if the error persists.
  • If the PowerPanel software is corrupted, we can reinstall it to resolve the issue.

Turn off USB battery saver under Bluetooth and Devices in Settings (Windows11) will solve this problem. Windows turns off the USB connection when it goes to sleep or hibernates.

OMG, mine has been connecting fine but after around a week it disconnects wit the message “Unable to communicate with UPS”. The PC is running all the time and doesn’t sleep (its a server). The only solution for me was to restart the machine (I tried restarting the services and ending the helper app in task manager, none of that worked).

If this fixes the problem, I’ll be soooo happy. Thanks for posting this.
