Recovering Amazon RDS for MySQL to Its Current Location

You can restore an RDS MySQL database right where it is using a full backup.

Make sure the server has been set up and that the target instance has already been created before beginning. When you’re ready, select Databases from the navigation pane, then Protect. Either enter the instance details and select Restore from the Recovery Points tile, or find the database you want and click Restore in the Instances tab.

Choose between options such as Restore to disk or Cross Instance restore when asked for the type of restore. Next, select the instance and destination server from the corresponding dropdown menus. Select a MediaAgent to control the data flow, if appropriate. You can either browse and choose the necessary commands from the physical client list or enter them in the Pre or Post options section. Enable the Run as User toggle if you’re using a different username, and provide the credentials. To receive updates, enable email notifications. Once all configurations are done, click Submit to start the restore.
