CloudWatch Config File in Parameter Store
Did you know that configuring the CloudWatch agent for our EC2 instance is a great way to monitor our AWS resources?
However, managing the agent’s configuration can be complex.
Today, we are going to take a look at the process of creating the CloudWatch agent configuration file using AWS Systems Manager’s Parameter Store.
This approach simplifies the setup but also boosts security and reusability.
AWS Systems Manager’s Parameter Store is a powerful tool designed to securely store configuration data and secrets.
This comes in handy when we need to manage and reuse configuration data.
- First, log in to the AWS Management Console and head to the Systems Manager console.
- Then, select “Parameter Store” from the left-side menu under “Application Management.”
- Now, we must click the “Create parameter” button to start creating a new parameter.
- Then, configure the parameter:
- Parameter Name: Enter a unique parameter name.
- Description: Enter a description for the parameter.
- Tier: Set the tier to “Standard.”
- Type: Choose “String.”
- Data type: Select “Text.”
- Value: Here, copy and paste the contents of the config.json file from the lab assets.
- Now, click the “Create parameter” button to create the CloudWatch agent configuration parameter.
After the above steps, we have successfully stored our CloudWatch agent configuration in the Parameter Store, making it easier to manage, secure, and reuse.
