At Bobcares, we offer solutions for every query, big and small, as a part of our Server Management Service.

Let’s take a look at how our Support Team is ready to help customers with DMARC Policies for email deliverability.

About DMARC Policies for Email Deliverability

DMARC, short for Domain-based Message Authentication Reporting and Conformance. It improves email trustworthiness reporting, in addition to successful email delivery. The DMARC policies are set with the DNS host as a TXT record.

The values we set in the TXT record form the DMARC policy. Furthermore, DMARC TXT records comply with tag=value;tag=value format. Moreover, there are several DMARC tags to use while configuring the DMARC records.

Our Support Team recommends using a third-party email host than WP Engine’s default mail services. It offers better control for sending policies and logging. We can also send regular WordPress emails through WP Engine by ensuring the mail relay services are in the allowlist in the email records. Additionally, we have to configure the following record types with the DNS host:

  • SPF (Sender Policy Framework) Records
  • DKIM (Domain Keys Identified Mail) Records

SPF (Sender Policy Framework) Records

WP Engine servers rely on email relay service MailChannels in order to deliver emails sent from WordPress. Our Support Techs recommend adding emails sent via MailChannels in the SPF records to the allowlist.

Additionally, SPF records are set as a TXT record likewise to DMARC. For instance:

v=spf1 include:relay.mailchannels.net ~all

If we already have an SPF record, all we have to do is add the MailChannels replay to the existing record. For example:

v=spf1 include:sendgrid.net include:mailgun.org include:relay

.mailchannels.net ~all

DKIM (Domain Keys Identified Mail) Records

This record is responsible for authenticating email messages and notes to ensure they were sent from our domains. We have to determine which domains may send emails for us in addition to generating a public/private key pair while setting up DKIM.

Additionally, the public key is added as a TXT record created at the DNS host, while the private key is saved with the mail relay service.
