Error/Moodle/Missingparam | Resolved

by | Dec 17, 2023

In this post, we’ll look into the troubleshooting steps for the “error/moodle/missingparam.” As part of our Server Management Service, Bobcares provides answers to all of your Moodle questions.

Troubleshooting the ERROR/MOODLE/MISSINGPARAM

This error occurs when a webpage fails to send a parameter that it expects to be sent from another page (by a cookie or post), but fails to do so.

This occasionally occurs when a user session ends due to inactivity or when a URL requiring that required parameter is put straight into the URL bar or accessed using browser bookmarks. An example of this would be the SCORM Player page not being accessed through a link on the course page. The mistake may occur when:

i. When a user is inactive, their session expires.

ii. A necessary parameter-containing URL is entered straight into the URL bar or accessed through bookmarks in the browser.

iii. Instead of pasting the URL into the URL field, a hyperlink is inserted inside the description.

The steps to fix the error are as follows:

1. Verify the parameters of the URL:

Make sure that the URLs we are visiting have the required parameters, particularly if we are going to a particular Moodle page.

2. Examine Form Submissions:

If the issue arises after a form has been submitted, make sure that all relevant fields have been filled out and the data is accurate.

3. Examine the Custom Code:

Examine any functions or methods that need parameters in the custom code to be sure they are being called appropriately.

Conclusion

In addition, we may activate debugging to obtain more specific error information if we have access to Moodle’s debugging facilities. We may accomplish this by making changes to the config.php file’s $CFG->debug and $CFG->debugdisplay settings. However, keep in mind that, for security reasons, debugging should not be enabled in a production environment.
