We can export the MySQL Workbench connections safely to a new system. This allows us to keep a personal backup. We can do this through Connections Manager to an encrypted file. Before we begin, make sure to have access to the password manager and save a generated password there, as well as a place to keep the connections file so we can retrieve it later.

The steps are as follows:

1. Firstly, open the password manager.

2. Now access the MySQL Workbench.

3. Open connections by going to File >> Open Connections. Continue to the Connections Manager if Quick Connections appear.

4. Find and click on the Export connections to file icon at the bottom left of the Connections Manager box.

5. A Save File dialogue box appears. We can either accept the defaults or pick a different name and place. Note each one so we can later locate the file.

6. Hit Save. The popup for the generated password appears. To view the password, check the View box.

7. In order to add the encrypted password to the password manager, click Copy.

8. Finally, select OK.

Now the MySQL Workbench connections are saved in an encrypted file at the place of our choice outside of Workbench, and the password is kept in the password manager.
